Rushcutters Bay Engineered Oak Timber Floor

This is one of our smaller timber flooring projects, but we love talking about it because of the dramatic difference the new floor made to the room.

You can clearly see it in the before and after pictures below.

It is a room in Rushcutters Bay with a magnificent outlook being held back by old, dirty flooring. We began by removing and disposing of the carpet, being careful not to damage the existing skirting boards that we gently removed to be re-installed once the new flooring had been placed.

You don’t see it on the photos, but we also worked on a connecting kitchen. We removed that covering and the existing underlay there as well.

Next we set about creating a solid and perfectly flat subfloor with self-levelling concrete. When that was ready, we installed a top-quality acoustic underlay (most strata properties require this for new timber flooring installs).

We recommended a premium Engineered Oak timber product. It is durable and handles changes in temperature and humidity extremely well. The coated finish maintained the freshness of the raw timber, giving the room a bright and natural atmosphere.

Once the skirting boards were re-installed, we detailed the room with a transparent silicon as a finishing touch. After a thorough clean-up, the furniture was brought back in and the room was incredibly transformed into something so much more welcoming than before.
