Cammeray Oak Herringbone Parquetry

This timber floor installation in Cammeray was an enormous project, but the result was absolutely worth it. Before we could even start, we needed to remove and dispose of the existing carpet, as well as the underlying Masonite and vinyl flooring. There were also three terazzo thresholds that needed to go.

We took great pains to strengthen and solidify the subfloor. Punching down loose nails, cutting out sections of flooring, shaving joists and installing structural plywood wherever required. Finally, we poured a top layer of self-levelling polymer-based compound to provide a perfectly level base to install the timber flooring on to.

We supplied a top-quality Engineered Oak product, which was securely glued to the subfloor. There were nine doors and five door jambs to be trimmed, as well as matching skirting boards throughout.

Once we had gone over the finished timber flooring with a fine-tooth comb – detailing the trims and adding silicon to any exposed expansion gaps, all that was left was the clean-up.

This timber flooring project in Cammeray was incredibly satisfying to work on. The transformation was dramatic. And most importantly, our customer was thrilled with the result.
